20th Century Fox has acquired Richard Lloyd Parry’s true crime book “People Who Eat Darkness” with plans for a film adaptation, though no director or producer is yet attached.
The landmark 2010 work chronicles the harrowing murder of a young Englishwoman working in Tokyo and her parents’ journey navigating the institutional ineptitude of the Japanese legal and police systems to bring her killer to justice.
Parry is an award-winning foreign correspondent and Asia bureau chief for The Times of London and the novel scored rave reviews for its objectivity and thoroughness.
