FOX has cancelled its Mayim Bialik-led comedy series “Call Me Kat” after three seasons following dwindling ratings that particularly nosedived in the show’s most recent run.
A reimagining of the long-running BBC hit “Miranda,” former “Blossom” star Bialik plays a 39-year-old single woman named Kat who left her job as a professor at the University of Louisville and used the money in her wedding fun to open a cat cafe.
Leslie Jordan, Swoosie Kurtz, Cheyenne Jackson, Kyla Pratt, and Julian Gant also starred, while Jim Parsons executive produced the new adaptation which launched in January 2021. A Fox spokesman says in a statement:
“We are very proud of Call Me Kat. But, unfortunately, the audience response to it was not as strong as we had hoped. We are thankful for our partnership with Warner Bros. Television, That’s Wonderful Productions, Sad Clown Productions, BBC Studios, Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons and the entire cast and crew for their work and dedication to Call Me Kat.”
FOX’s recent Joel McHale-led sitcom “Animal Control,” which had been paired with ‘Kat,’ is expected to receive a second season whilst “Welcome to Flatch” remains up in the air for now.
