“World War Z” and “Quantum of Solace” director Marc Forster has been set to helm the U.S. remake of the 2015 Swedish life-affirming comedy smash feature “A Man Called Ove” and the best-selling novel by Fredrik Backman upon which it’s based.

Oscar-winner Tom Hanks will star in and produce the feature about a curmudgeonly man with staunch principles, strict routines, a short fuse, and a sad backstory.

When a chatty young family move in next door and accidentally flatten his mailbox, it leads to a heart-warming tale of cats and unexpected friendship.

Oscar nominee David Magee (“Life Of Pi,” “Finding Neverland”) is penning the script and filming is due to begin this year. Gary Goetzman, Fredrik Wikström Nicastro and Rita Wilson are also producing.

The original film ended up being the highest-grossing foreign-language film in the U.S. in 2016.
