Sony Pictures has pre-emptively acquired U.S. rights to the film adaptation of Richard McGuire’s acclaimed graphic novel “Here” from Miramax.
The story is centered around a place in New England where from wilderness, and then, later, a home – love, loss, struggle, hope and legacy play out between couples and families over generations.
The project serves as a nearly thirty years on reunion of the “Forrest Gump” team of director Robert Zemeckis, screenwriter Eric Roth, and actors Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
Bill Block will produce alongside Zemeckis’ ImageMovers label. Filming begins in September and Sony is reportedly planning for a theatrical release in 2023 in time for awards season.
