Focus Features is in final talks to both finance and handle worldwide distribution of “Ad Astra” and “The Lost City of Z” helmer James Gray’s new directorial effort “Armageddon Time”.
Robert De Niro, Oscar Isaac, Donald Sutherland, Anne Hathaway and Cate Blanchett are set to star in the film with sources suggesting that Focus’ commitment will be in the $15 million range.
Gray’s coming-of-age story explores friendship and loyalty against the backdrop of an America poised to elect Ronald Reagan as president. It is based on Gray’s own childhood memories.
Gray, Rodrigo Teixeira and Anthony Katagas produce and shooting aims to begin at the start of 2021 on-location in New York.
