The film adaptation of the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” games arrives at the end of the month after several years in development.
Speaking with EW recently, the film’s director Emma Tammi says that she “hopes to be able to do more” with this franchise, suggesting a sequel could be on the way if the film does well enough that they can move forward with one.
She may get her wish. Recently Box-Office Pro posted long-range tracking projections for the film with the movie currently slated for an impressive opening weekend of $33-42 million.
That’s well above its cost-effective $25 million budget. It’s doubly impressive considering the fact the film is launching simultaneously on Peacock.
Like the games, the film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working the nightwatch at an old family pizzeria. Turns out the animatronic creatures come to life after dark.
Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, Kat Conner Sterling, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lucas Grant, and Jessica Blackmore co-star in the film which hits cinemas and Peacock on October 27th.
