Blumhouse Productions chief Jason Blum has announced that the live-action film adaptation of the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” video game franchise is set to arrive in cinemas this Halloween holiday.
Specifically, Universal Pictures will open the film in cinemas on October 27th with a wide release. In addition, the film will be getting a Peacock streaming premiere day-and-date with its theatrical release.
The story follows a troubled security guard (Josh Hutcherson) as he begins working at the family-friendly Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through as the giant animatronic creatures turn deadly and can move when not being looked at.
Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson, Lucas Grant, Kat Conner Sterling and Jessica Blackmore co-star.
Emma Tammi (“The Wind”) is directing the film, while Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will work alongside Blumhouse to bring the game’s killer animatronics to life. Tammi co-wrote the script with Seth Cuddeback and the game’s creator Scott Cawthon. Cawthon and Blum will produce.
