CBS Studios has announced the launch of “Star Trek: (very) Short Treks,” five new animated promotional shorts tied to the 50th anniversary of “Star Trek: The Animated Series”.
The first animated short will launch on Star Trek Day on September 8th exclusively on StarTrek.com and the official Star Trek YouTube channel.
The remaining four additional animated shorts roll out weekly on Wednesdays through October 4th at 10am US-PT.
The shorts hail from creative consultant Casper Kelly, best known for the viral smash hit “Too Many Cooks” and his work on the prior “Star Trek: Short Treks” along with Adult Swim.
The new Short Treks will feature previously announced fan-favorite characters including previously announced Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, Doug Jones as Saru and Armin Shimerman as Quark.
Also onboard are Ethan Peck as Spock, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Connor Trinneer as Trip Tucker, Bruce Horak as Hemmer, Noël Wells as Tendi and the legend that is George Takei as Sulu.
Also coming is a new IDW Publishing comic book “Star Trek: The Animated Celebration Presents The Scheimer Barrier” which also debuts on Star Trek day.
