Laurence Fishburne and Jacki Weaver are attached to star in an FX six-episode limited series based on ESPN’s 30 for 30 podcast “The Sterling Affairs”.
The behind-the-scenes story follows Doc Rivers (Fishburne) and the quest by the Los Angeles Clippers basketball team to bring a championship to one of the historically worst franchises in all of sports.
All this unfolds during the impending downfall of the team’s owner, Donald Sterling, whose notoriously racist behavior is brought to light amid the power struggle between his wife Shelly Sterling (Weaver), and his mistress V. Stiviano.
Gina Welch serves as writer and will executive produce with Nina Jacobson, Nellie Reed, Brad Simpson, Kevin Bray and original podcast host Ramona Shelburne.
