First Trailer: “The Death of Robin Hood”

A24

A24 has premiered the first trailer for “The Death of Robin Hood” ahead of the film’s opening later this year.

The story is described as a grounded, visceral and darker reimagining of the classic Robin Hood tale.

The story will see an old age version of the title character grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder.

Now he’s a battle-worn loner who finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance at salvation.

Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe star. Jackman is the third Aussie to play the role, following Tasmanian-born Errol Flynn in the 1930s original and Jack Patten in last year’s MGM+ series. Fourth, if you count New Zealand-born/Australia-raised Russell Crowe.

Other notable actors from other countries to have portrayed the role include Kevin Costner, Taron Egerton, Cary Elwes, and Jonas Armstrong.

Filmmaker Michael Sarnoski (“Pig,” “A Quiet Place: Day One”) penned and directs the film, which Aaron Ryder, Andrew Swett and Alexander Black will produce.
