Prime Video has released the first trailer for “Red, White & Royal Blue,” the rom-com film adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestselling debut novel.
Four years ago, Casey McQuiston made a splash in the romance world with their now bestselling debut novel Red, White & Royal Blue. The queer romance quickly became a hit with readers and is now making its way to the screen. On August 11, Prime Video’s adaptation will hit the streamer, and the first trailer has finally arrived.
The story centers on Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), son of newly elected United States President Ellen Claremont (Uma Thurman) and the young millennial face of the White House. That is until he has to interact with his UK counterpart and rival Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine), causing a major uproar at a wedding.
In order to avoid a major diplomatic incident, the two are forced to play up their non-existent friendship with a goodwill visit to the UK. Forced friendship gives way to real friendship then blossoms into something even more. However, the two must hide their relationship in case Alex ruin his mother’s chances for re-election and Henry throws his own family into disarray.
Aneesh Sheth, Stephen Fry, Sharon D. Clarke, Thomas Flynn, Clifton Collins Jr., Malcolm Atobrah, Akshay Khanna, Ahmed Alhaj, and Polo Morin also star. Matthew Lopez wrote, directed, and executive produced the film from an earlier draft by Ted Malawar.
McQuiston, Michael S. Constable, and Michael Riley McGrath executive produce. “Red, White & Royal Blue” premieres on August 11th on Prime Video.
