The first trailer has premiered for “The Cuphead Show!,” the animated series based on the best-selling and critically-acclaimed video game “Cuphead”.
Both the game and the series boast an art style heavily influenced by the golden age of American animation in the 1930s – specifically the early work of Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios.
The series is animated by Studio MDHR, who also created the game, with co-founders Chad and Jared Moldenhauer executive producing with CJ Kettler and Dave Wasson. Wasson, who helmed a number of Mickey Mouse Shorts, developed the TV adaptation with the first season consisting of twelve twelve-minute character-driven comedy episodes.
Tru Valentino voices Cuphead and Frank Todaro voices his brother Mugman. Also onboard are Joe Hanna as Elser Kettle, Luke Millington-Drake as The Devil, Grey Griffin as Ms. Chalice and Wayne Brady as King Dice.
The series follows the misadventures of loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman across their surreal homeworld of the Inkwell Isles in search of fun and adventure.
“The Cuphead Show!” premieres on Netflix on February 18th.
