Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered the first trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new directorial effort, “The Bride” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
In the film, a lonely Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him.
The two revive a murdered young woman, and The Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined: Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance.
Penelope Cruz, Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Skarsgaard also star in the film, which is a major reimagining of James Whale’s iconic 1935 classic “Bride of Frankenstein” and looks to be painting the two creatures as essentially Bonnie and Clyde-style characters.
Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay and produces alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman Keren. It marks her second directorial effort following 2021’s psychological drama “The Lost Daughter”.
“The Bride” is set to be released in cinemas on March 4th 2026.
