First Trailer: “Insidious: The Red Door”

Sony PIctures, Blumhouse

The first trailer and poster have been released for Blumhouse’s horror sequel “Insidious: The Red Door”.

Marking the fifth overall film in the franchise, it follows on from the events of 2013’s “Insidious: Chapter 2” as opposed to the third and fourth one which served as prequels and switched the focus to Lin Shaye’s psychic character.

The second movie ended with the Lambert family members Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Dalton (Ty Simpkins) suppressing their memories in order to prevent projecting into The Further ever again.

A decade later, Dalton is heading off to an idyllic, ivy-covered university and coming to grips with his astral projection abilities. Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.

Both actors return, and the project marks Patrick Wilson’s feature directorial debut. Rose Byrne is also back, whilst Andrew Astor, Hiam Abbass, Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager, and Jarquez McClendon appear.

Scott Teems (“Halloween Kills”) penned the script based on a story from Leigh Whannell and Jason Blum. It marks the first time in the franchise that Whannell won’t be writing the screenplay. Blum, Whannell, Wan, and Oren Peli produce.

“Insidious: The Red Door” is currently scheduled to hit the theaters on July 7th.
