First Trailer: HBO’s Trippy “The Third Day”

HBO has released the trailer for its trippy looking six-part psychological thriller mini-series “The Third Day” which is being produced by Sky Studios (“Chernobyl”) and Plan B.

The series is split into two distinct halves. In ‘Summer’, Jude Law plays Sam, a man drawn to a mysterious island off the British coast separated by a causeway which is only open to cars for a limited time. Missing the window to return and isolated from the mainland, the unusual rituals of the island and its secretive inhabitants begin to overwhelm him.

He is soon confronted by trauma from his past, the line between reality and fantasy blurs and he finds himself immersed in a quest that puts him at odds with the islanders. Naomie Harris leads the second half, ‘Winter’, as a strong-willed outsider who comes to the island seeking answers. Her arrival precipitates a fractious battle to decide its fate.

Katherine Waterston, Emily Watson, Freya Allan, John Dagleish and Paddy Considine co-star in the series which is helmed by Marc Munden and Philippa Lowthorpe. “The Third Day” premieres May 11th.
