NEON has premiered the first trailer for “Lady Macbeth” director William Oldroyd’s psychological thriller “Eileen” starring Anne Hathaway and rising young actress Thomasin McKenzie (“Jojo Rabbit,” “Last Night in Soho”).
Set during a bitter 1964 Massachusetts winter, young secretary Eileen becomes enchanted by the glamorous new counselor at the prison where she works.
Their budding friendship takes a twisted turn when Rebecca reveals a dark secret – throwing Eileen onto a sinister path. Further details are being kept under wraps to avoid spoiling the various twists and turns. Shea Whigham, Siobhan Fallon Hogan, and Owen Teague co-star.
Ottessa Moshfegh and Luke Goebel penned the script while Oldroyd, Goebel, Moshfegh, Anthony Bregman, Stefanie Azpiazu, and Peter Cron produce.
The film premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival and scored positive reviews for strong performances, script and cinematography.
“Eileen” will open in New York City and Los Angeles cinemas on December 1st before a wide release on December 8th.
