Sony Pictures has premiered the first trailer for “Dumb Money,” its upcoming comedy about the infamous GameStop short squeeze that shook the entire financial world.

Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum penned the script which tells the story of fortunes won and lost overnight in the David-vs.-Goliath battle that took place in early 2021.

A loosely affiliated group of private investors and internet trolls on a subreddit took down one of the biggest hedge funds on Wall Street, firing the first shot in a revolution that threatened to upend the establishment.

The trailer indicates Rogen plays a hedge fund manager who loses billions in the events with many of the rest playing members of the public who profited from what happened.

Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Shailene Woodley, Sebastian Stan, Pete Davidson, Nick Offerman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Anthony Ramos, and Dane DeHaan co-star in the film based on Ben Mezrich’s book “The Antisocial Network”.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (“I Tonya,” “Cruella”), the film is set to open in theaters on September 22nd. Gillespie, Aaron Ryder and Teddy Schwarzman produce the project which is still in post-production at present.
