Adult Swim and Crunchyroll have premiered the first trailer for “Shenmue,” the first anime series based on Yu Suzuki’s celebrated SEGA video game series.
After he witnesses his father’s murder at the family dojo, Ryo dedicates his life to finding the man responsible – a mission that takes him from the streets of Yokosuka to the sprawling metropolis of Hong Kong and beyond.
He soon learns that larger, mystical forces are at play as he trains to become the ultimate martial artist in his quest for revenge. Many voice actors from the games will return for the series.
First announced a year ago, the thirteen-episode series is being directed by Chikara Sakurai (“One Punch Man”) and executive produced by Yu Suzuki. Adult Swim and Crunchyroll will air the show sometime in 2022.
