Netflix has premiered the first trailer for “Extraction 2,” the sequel to one of 2020’s biggest success stories. The Chris Hemsworth-led action arrived in April 2020 which became one of the biggest streaming hits of the pandemic.
In the sequel, Hemsworth will reprise his role of Australian black-ops mercenary Tyler Rake who somehow survived the end of the first film and off on his next mission. Here he’s tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held.
Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first film, whilst Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili co-star. Also back is director Sam Hargrave with Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO producing and Joe Russo writing.
Joe Russo has previously said the film is “very different” from the first including a different location and color scheme along with a different pace and tone than the first one. Also producing are Hemsworth, the Russos, Mike Larocca, Patrick Newall and Sam Hargrave.
The trailer showcases a major prison fight sequence which involves a lot of complex timing and planning to get just right.
“Extraction 2” has its premiere on the Netflix streaming service on June 16th.
