First Trailer: Brendan Fraser In “Rental Family”

Searchlight

Searchlight Pictures has premiered the first trailer for “Rental Family,” the new comedy-drama from “Beef” and “Tokyo Vice” director Hikari who co-wrote the script with Stephen Blahut.

Oscar winner Brendan Fraser plays a down-and-out American actor living in Tokyo, Japan. One day he is hired as a token American guy for a Japanese rental family company.

This leads him on an unexpected journey of self-discovery through the roles he plays in other people’s lives.

The project marks Fraser’s first leading role since his Oscar-winning turn in Darren Aronofsky’s “The Whale” earlier this year. He most recently shot Max Barbakow’s comedy “Brothers”.

Eddie Vaisman, Shin Yamaguchi and Julia Lebedev produce the project which will have its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival next month.

The 103-minute film is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 21st.
