A24 has premiered the first trailer for “Tony,” a new biopic based on the life of legendary chef, commentator, documentarian and author Anthony Bourdain.
Dominic Sessa (“The Holdovers,” “Now You See Me 3”) stars as a 19-year-old Bourdain in the film, which is set in 1975 when he is working in a local restaurant in Massachusetts.
Bourdain travels to Provincetown and stumbles into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a transformative summer that will shape the course of his life
His best-selling memoir “Kitchen Confidential,” published in 2000, largely serves as the inspiration for the film which also stars Emilia Jones and Antonio Banderas.
Matt Johnson directs the movie which he describes as “an interpretation as that part of Tony’s life will always remain somewhat unknown”. Bourdain himself passed away in 2018 at the age of 61.
“Tony” will be released in cinemas in August.
