Warner Bros. Discovery will shortly be returning to the Super Bowl with the first footage from “The Flash” to debut during the game this Sunday. Ahead of that, they’ve premiered a new poster for the Andy Muschietti-directed feature.
The film has reportedly \ tested very positively and will see Ezra Miller’s take on The Flash from Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” travel across various multiverses, encountering other versions of himself, a version of Supergirl (Sasha Calle), and Michael Keaton returning as Batman after nearly 30 years.
Keaton last played Batman in 1992’s “Batman Returns” with this expected to serve as a part sequel to that – ignoring the events of the Joel Schumacher-directed films.
The film has also reportedly cut a planned cameo by Henry Cavill’s Superman, though an appearance by Ben Affleck as Batman is expected to remain.
Miller, of course, has drawn headlines for troubling personal behavior and attention from law enforcement. They previously announced they had entered into treatment for ‘complex mental health issues’ and apologized in a statement to media.
The occasion marks the first films Warners has advertised at the Super Bowl since “V for Vendetta” and “Poseidon” back in 2006. “The Flash” will open in theaters on June 16th 2023.
