First Photos: Tom Holland In “Uncharted”

Meet the new Nathan Drake in the first official photos from “Uncharted,” the film adaptation of PlayStation’s signature gaming franchise for much of the past two console generations.

In the film “Spider-Man” star Tom Holland plays a younger version of the treasure hunting Nathan Drake we’ve known from the games, a character voiced by Nolan North across the four major titles (and one PSP title) from 2007-2016.

Both North and Holland can be seen on set together in one of the several first look photos released today from the film. Passing the torch to Holland, North tweets: “Like looking into a mirror! Proud to have @TomHolland1996 continuing the Drake legacy! Absolutely smashing it!.”

Holland, infamous for accidentally spoiling movie secrets, posted jokingly: “Do you think Sony would be pissed if I spontaneously uploaded a first look picture. I got Nolan’s approval so I guess they can’t fire me now.”

Holland also posted a photo of himself in Drake’s signature outfit. One of the photos posted shows a mysterious artifact in the middle of a crypt, while the other is an open copy of Francis Henry Hill Guillemard’s 1890 biography work “The Life of Ferdinand Magellan, and the First Circumnavigation of the Globe” which hints that a treasure related to Magellan will serve as the film’s spine.

Mark Wahlberg co-stars as Nathan’s mentor Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan while Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle and Sophia Ali co-star. Reuben Fletcher helms the project which is just finishing up its shoot ahead of Holland getting to work on “Spider-Man 3”. “Uncharted” arrives in cinemas late next year.
