First Photos: Charlize Theron In “Old Guard”

After the stalling of the “Spider-Man” spin-off “Silver and Black,” filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood quickly jumped over to another project – an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez’s sci-fi action comic “The Old Guard”.

The project was setup and Netflix, and now the streamer has released the first photos from the project with glimpses of the damn good looking main cast including Charlize Theron, Chiwetel Ejiofor, KiKi Layne (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Marwan Kenzari (“Aladdin”), Matthias Schoenaerts (“Far from the Madding Crowd”) and Luca Marinelli (“Martin Eden”).

Theron plays Andromache of Scythia, a centuries-old warrior who has died hundreds of times – only to resurrect and continue to fight. In the present day she is leading a tactical vigilante team of other immortals that takes out human traffickers, terrorists, and anyone who preys on the vulnerable and the innocent.

Layne plays a new immortal, Nile, who joins their ranks. At the same time the team tries to avoid being tracked down by a CIA operative and historian (Ejiofor) who has figured out their identities. The film premieres on Netflix on July 10th.
