A24 have premiered a first-look photo of a bulked-up Zac Efron at work on the wrestling drama “The Iron Claw” which is currently filming.
Efron stars as the Golden Warrior, aka Kevin Von Erich, part of the Von Erich family wrestling dynasty. The project also stars “Shameless” and “The Bear” alum Jeremy Allen White along with “Beach Rats” breakout Harris Dickinson, “Mindhunters” star Holt McCallany, “Pam and Tommy” star Lily James, and acting veteran Maura Tierney.
Efron’s bowl-cut hairdo for the movie caught a lot of social media attention recently, including the eye of the real Von Erich, who told TMZ: “I didn’t ever look that good. He looked great though, he must be working really hard.”
The project has been penned and directed by “Martha Marcy May Marlene” filmmaker Sean Durkin while Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman produce. The film opens sometime next year.
