Though still months away from its premiere in September, Amazon Prime has released eight first-look photos from the upcoming second season of its fantasy drama “The Wheel of Time” based on Robert Jordan’s best-selling book series.
The tale unfolds in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists, but only women can use it. Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Zoe Robins, Madeleine Madden, Josha Stradowski and Marcus Rutherford co-star whilst Donal Finn takes over the Mat Cauthon role.
In the new run, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves.
The new photos show off the various cast and some production details – but otherwise, plays it relatively safe in terms of avoiding spoilers. The second season finished shooting a year ago, with the third already in production.
New to the show’s run this year are Ceara Coveney as Lady Elayne Trakand, Ayoola Smart, Natasha O’Keeffe, Gregg Chillingirian, Meera Syal, Maja Simonsen, Ragga Ragnars, Jay Duffy and Rima Te Wiata.
The show’s first season will air on Amazon Freevee for one month beginning July 14th and is available now on Amazon Prime Video. The second season launches on the service on September 1st.
