Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola’s epic “Megalopolis” is set to have its world debut at the Cannes Film Festival in a few weeks. Today, a first-look photo of stars Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel in the film is out.

Vanity Fair published the photo along with a statement from Coppola that clears up some old rumors about the movie and explains some other things.

Coppola credits the H.G. Wells-penned 1936 film “Things to Come” as his first inspiration, and dubs this $120 million-budgeted film as being about “building the world of tomorrow”.

He says the final film is the result of approximately 300 rewrites with over forty scholars, novelists, artists, filmmakers and poets.

Giancarlo Esposito, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Chloe Fineman and James Remar star.

The film hits France in September and doesn’t have any other international distribution at this point.
