David Fincher’s long-rumoured U.S. version of “Squid Game” appears to be picking up steam.

While Netflix still hasn’t officially confirmed the project, a new listing on the Film and Television Industry Alliance website Productionlist.com indicates the spin-off will reportedly be titled “Squid Game: America”.

In addition, the creative team is listed with Fincher, original series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, Kim Ji-yeon, Zeus Zamani, and Rhett Giles as producers.

Dennis Kelly is also listed as its writer, while Cate Blanchett is the only cast member mentioned. The listing indicates production is targeting a February 26th start in Los Angeles.

Blanchett made a cameo in the final episode of the South Korean original as a recruiter for the American games and is seen playing a game of ddakji with a potential player.

However, it was seen as a one-off with Hwang and Blanchett making no indications in recent interviews that she would be involved in any U.S. series version. Blanchett did work with Fincher on “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”.

The massive global hit series concluded its three-season run four months ago.
