Oscar-winning cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, who recently worked with David Fincher on both “Mindhunter” and “Mank,” has indicated that production on Fincher’s new film will begin in Paris this November.
Messerschmidt revealed the date to Spanish paper El Diaro Vasco (via The Film Stage). The project is an adaptation of the graphic novel series “The Killer” and has Michael Fassbender attached to star in the lead role.
The comic is a noir story following a cold, methodical and professional assassin who waits for his next target alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind. Andrew Kevin Walker (“Se7en”) penned the script.
The film is one of several projects Fincher is working on as part of his recent deal with Netflix. A 2022 release date looks to be on the cards.
