Paramount+ has premiered a final trailer for the fourth season of its animated comedy “Star Trek: Lower Decks” with the “lower decks” crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos all set to return next week.
Ensign Beckett Mariner (Tawny Newsome), Ensign Brad Boimler (Jack Quaid), Ensign Tendi (Noël Wells) and Ensign Rutherford (Eugene Cordero) are all back, as are Captain Carol Freeman (Dawnn Lewis), Commander Jack Ransom (Jerry O’Connell and Doctor T’Ana (Gillian Vigman).
The show has been filled with “Star Trek: The Next Generation” callbacks since the beginning, and last season had a big ol’ tribute episode to “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”.
The trailer for this season suggests “Star Trek: Voyager” will get its tribute episode in the new run which follows in the wake of the “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” second season crossover. There’s also going to be the return of the evil A.I. Badgey.
With the ongoing writer’s and actor’s strikes halting production of the third season of ‘Strange New Worlds’ just one day before it was slated to begin, that leaves only three seasons of completed “Star Trek” left to air – this, the upcoming fifth and final season of “Star Trek: Discovery,” and the second and final season of “Star Trek: Prodigy” which has yet to find a home elsewhere.
“Star Trek: Lower Decks” will stream the fourth season’s weekly episodes on Thursdays on Paramount+ starting on September 7th. The show has already been renewed for a fifth season.
