Final Trailer: HBO’s “Lovecraft Country”

HBO has released the official final trailer and key art for the upcoming new drama series “Lovecraft Country”. The project hails from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros Television.

Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff, the story focuses on 25-year-old Atticus Black (Jonathan Majors). After his father goes missing, Black joins up with his friend Letitia ‘Leti’ Dandridge (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his Uncle George (Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America to find him.

This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback. The anthological horror series aims to reclaim genre storytelling from the African-American perspective.

“Underground” executive producer/writer Misha Green penned the pilot and serves as showrunner on the series with Yann Demange directing the pilot and executive producing along with Peele, Green, Abrams and Ben Stephenson.

Courtney B. Vance, Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, Michael K. Williams, Abbey Lee, Jamie Chung, Erica Tazel, Tony Goldwyn, Jamie Harris, Jamie Neumann, Mac Brandt, & Jordan Patrick Smith co-str in the series which premieres August 16th.
