Filmmaker Rob Reiner Dead At 78

Legendary “The Princess Bride” and “Stand By Me” filmmaker Rob Reiner, and his wife Michele, died today reports TMZ. He was 78, she was 70.

The pair were found dead in their home in Brentwood, California. The L.A. Fire Department were called to their house a little after 3:30pm, and detectives from the LAPD Robbery-Homicide Division are investigating.

Two bodies were found that match the ages of Reiner and his wife, with TMZ subsequently confirming the deaths based on information from law enforcement sources.

The outlet also says “the two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife” with People subsequently reporting that the pair were allegedly killed by their son Nick. The Robbery Homicide Division are taking the lead in an investigation into the incident.

Reiner is the director of multiple Hollywood classics, including “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Stand By Me,” “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” “A Few Good Men,” “The American President,” “Ghosts of Mississippi,” “The Bucket List,” and his final film “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues”.

He was also a well known actor in films like “The Jerk,” “Throw Momma from the Train,” “Postcards from the Edge,” “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Bullets Over Broadway,” “Mixed Nuts,” “For Better or Worse,” “The First Wives Club,” “Primary Colors,” “EDtv,” “The Majestic,” “Alex and Emma,” “The Wolf of Wall Street,” and “Sandy Wexler”.

He also had a long TV acting career with an Emmy winning series regular role in “All in the Family” and recurring and guest starring roles in numerous sitcomes from the 1980s through to the 2020s. Our sincerest condolences go out to their family and friends.
