After nearly a year hiatus, Netflix is getting back up and running on production of “Green Room” director Jeremy Saulnier’s action-thriller “Rebel Ridge” with shooting to begin again on April 25th.
The project came to a screeching halt back in June last year with the unexpected and abrupt departure of star John Boyega midway through the film’s shoot with Boyega citing “family reasons”.
Though not a big-budget feature, it wasn’t a small one either and faced multiple financial and logistical issues to solve before it could get back underway and tell its story of systemic American injustice.
“The Underground Railroad” and “Krypton” star Aaron Pierre will take over for Boyega whilst original cast members AnnaSophia Robb, Emory Cohen, Don Johnson, Zsane Jhe and James Cromwell are still onboard.
David Denman (“Mare of Easttown”) is also joining as part of the new shoot which will take place at least partly in Louisana. Anish Savjani, Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino and Saulnier produce.
