Film Fests Unite For Online “We Are One” Fest

More than twenty film festivals around the world – including the six biggest – are joining together for “We Are One: A Global Film Festival,” a ten-day online only festival with movies streamed for free on YouTube.

Content curated by the Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Tribeca and Venice Film Festivals will be included in the festival starting on May 29th. Content from smaller fests such as Jerusalem, Mumbai, Sarajevo, Sydney, Tokyo and London will also be included.

The festival will showcase films, documentaries, music, comedy and conversations. No details of the programming were announced, and it’s expected that major new movies that generally launch at film festivals will not be included.

The organisers of Cannes said on Monday they were proud to join in the event: “To spotlight truly extraordinary films and talent, allowing audiences to experience both the nuances of storytelling from around the world and the artistic personalities of each festival”.

Viewers will be asked to donate to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 solidarity response fund.
