“Promising Young Woman” director Emerald Fennell’s hotly anticipated second feature “Saltburn” has been announced as the opening film of the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 4th.
Set in the mid-2000s, Barry Keoghan stars as student Oliver Quick who is struggling to find his place at Oxford University.
He finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him for a summer at Saltburn – his eccentric family’s sprawling estate.
Carey Mulligan, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver and Archie Madekwe co-star in the project which boasts a soundtrack of “pop bangers” of the era along with various plot twists.
The film will have its international premiere at the event taking place at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London.
Simultaneous preview screenings of the film will be held at multiple cinemas across the United Kingdom. Amazon Studios and MGM will likely world premiere the movie at Telluride.
Fennell, Josey McNamara and Margot Robbie produce the film. which MRC and LuckyChap Entertainment will release in cinemas on November 24th.
