“Promising Young Woman” filmmaker Emerald Fennell is joining Ana de Armas on the “John Wick” spin-off project “Ballerina” in a production capacity.
Fennell will team with “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” screenwriter Shay Hatten and director Len Wiseman to punch up the script, much like the way Phoebe Waller-Bridge did for Daniel Craig’s final Bond film “No Time to Die”.
The film stars de Armas as a young female assassin who seeks revenge against those who killed her family. de Armas herself revealed the collaboration in an Elle magazine interview, indicating she had a hand in the hiring.
Fennell served as showrunner on the second season of “Killing Eve,” taking over from Waller-Bridge who created and showran the first season, and is an actress who most recently played Camilla Parker Bowles in the fourth season of “The Crown”.
“Ballerina” will arrive after Reeves returns in the already shot “John Wick: Chapter 4” which opens in cinemas on March 24th 2023.
