Netflix has announced that the upcoming trilogy of movies based on R.L. Stine’s “Fear Street” book series will premiere over three consecutive weeks this July.
“Fear Street Part 1: 1994” hits July 2nd, “Fear Street Part 2: 1978” arrives July 9th, and “Fear Street Part 3: 1666” hits July 16th. Unlike Stine’s kid-centric “Goosebumps” films, these are rated R.
Leigh Janiak directed the interconnected films that unfold over three different time periods across three centuries – all in the fictional town of Shadyside, Ohio.
Things begin with a group of teenagers who discover that the terrifying events that have haunted their town for generations may all be connected – and they may be targeted next.
The trilogy was originally set up at Fox and was slated to debut theatrically, Netflix acquired the property last year.
