“Iron Man” director Jon Favreau has been hired to direct the first episode of “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane’s yet-to-be-titled live action space dramedy on FOX.
Ordered straight-to-series in May, the hour-long show is set three centuries in the future and follows the crew of the motley exploratory ship Orville as they explore the challenges of space and co-habituating with their colleagues. MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Peter Macon and J Lee star.
Favreau will also continue to serve as executive producer and consult on the series after he completes work on the premiere. Favreau did a similar style arrangement with the late NBC series “Revolution” and “About a Boy”.
Filming on the still untitled series begins in January.
