Following in the wake of all the new “Star Wars” TV series announcements in recent times, two of the key personnel involved have offered up some new details on several of the shows.
First up, actor Diego Luna discussed “Andor” – the “Star Wars” series that serves as a prequel to “Rogue One” and follows Luna’s character from that film.
Talking with THR, Luna says he can’t wait to get back into the character, and despite the shift to a TV format, so far he says it doesn’t feel like anything less than on the same level as “Rogue One”:
“The way we’re shooting this reminds me of how we shot the film, and the amount of work behind this TV series reminds me of the work you do for a film. It feels like we’re doing a very long movie… It’s really interesting to tell a story even though we know where it ends. I think the format of a series is amazing because we have a lot of time to explore all those layers.”
A specific release date for “Andor” has yet to be announced beyond it coming sometime in 2022 and consisting of twelve episodes. Meanwhile “The Mandalorian” Jon Favreau has offered up some more details on the shows he’s involved in.
Appearing on Good Morning America the other day, he talked some more about the planned “Ahsoka” and “Rangers of the New Republic” series. He confirmed himself, and Dave Filoni would be writing and producing both shows that will also be set in the same time period of “Mandalorian” – several years after the events depicted in “Return of the Jedi”.
The team is currently in production on “The Book of Boba Fett” series. They will segue from that into production on the third season of “The Mandalorian” following Pedro Pascal’s character. Robert Rodriguez, who scored acclaim for his work helming the sixth episode of Mando’s second season, will executive produce “The Book of Boba Fett”.
