Just a week out from its third season premiere, “The Mandalorian” showrunner Jon Favreau has confirmed that the scripts for the entire fourth season of the series have already been written.
In a new interview with French entertainment outlet BFMTV INSIDE, the “Jungle Book” and “Iron Man” director said he and Dave Filoni had mapped out the fourth season and then Favreau went to work on writing the scripts whilst in the middle of post-production on the show’s third season.
This would imply the between season gap will be shorter than the one between the second and third seasons. He also indicates that with two other shows (“Ahsoka,” “Skeleton Crew”) launching shortly after the third season, both of which are set within the same time period as Mando, we could see some potential crossover action next season.
Favreau says having the scripts done before production is important this time out as they have to be aware of the other shows sharing the same time period in “Star Wars” lore, and acccomodate them accordingly:
“[Dave Filoni’s] doing Ahsoka, which I’m producing with him, but he’s the writer and showrunner on that. And so, to understand what’s happening on other shows or even Skeleton Crew, they all take place in the same Star Wars time period. So, there’s a lot more things that we have to keep in mind and stuff that we’ve built up to from previous seasons of The Mandalorian as well.”
