“Fatal Attraction,” “Italian Job” Series Coming

“Love Story,” “Fatal Attraction,” “The Parallax View,” “The Italian Job” and “Flashdance” – five of the most iconic titles of the Paramount Pictures library are getting TV series adaptations for the Paramount+ service.

The five shows join the already announced “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies” prequel and “The Offer” which deals with the making of “The Godfather,” with all the projects set up at Paramount Television Studios.

The announcement was revealed as a part of Paramount’s Investor Day presentation on Wednesday. Paramount Television Studios is being pegged as the place where the studio will produce its most buzzy AAA titles with shows that define the brand.

“Love Story has scored a script to series commitment for an ongoing series about the tragic romance. “The O.C.” and “Gossip Girl” duo Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are serving as executive producers.

“Fatal Attraction” also has a script to series commitment and is dubbed a “deep-dive reimagining” of the psychosexual thriller that starred Glenn Close and Michael Douglas. The new take will adopt modern attitudes in its portrayal of strong women, personality disorders, victim shaming and coercive control. “Dirty John” duo Alexandra Cunningham and Kevin Hynes will pen the script and executive produce.

“The Parallax View” is in early development with no writer yet attached, though “Mission: Impossible” franchise producer Paula Wagner is onboard. This new take on Alan J. Pakula’s 1974 thriller revolves around a reporter’s investigation into a secretive organization, the Parallax Corp., whose primary focus is political assassination.

“Flashdance” has script to pilot commitment but is still in early development. Tracy McMillan (“Good Girls Revolt”) will pen the script for the drama focusing on a Black woman struggling to make her mark in the ballet world. The story will pick up from where the film’s story left off, but in the present day. Angela Robinson (“The L Word”) will executive produce and direct the pilot for the potential series.

“The Italian Job” has received a script to pilot order and is based on the 1969 Michael Caine action thriller which was remade in 2003. Matt Wheeler (“Hawaii Five-0”) backs the new take which revolves around the grandchildren of Caine’s Charlie Croker character who inherit his old safety deposit box and reignite the quest for the infamous Italian bullion.

At present, no production or potential air dates have yet been set. Paramount+ launches on March 4th.
