Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” has reportedly had the quietest Disney+ debut of any MCU title on the service.
According to TV Fandom Lounge, the film pulled in 4.9 million views in its first five days – 10% below the 5.5 million of “Thunderbolts” and 23% below that of the 6.4 million for “Captain America: Brave New World” both earlier this year.
Some will no doubt say that its success at the box office was to blame – the film pulled in $522 million worldwide, 25% more than the $415 million of “Captain America” and 36% more than the $382 million of “Thunderbolts”.
That doesn’t really pan out though as previous examples have indicated the more successful a film has been at the box-office, generally the greater its Disney+ numbers. “Deadpool & Wolverine,” which had considerably bigger box-office than all of those titles, pulled in 19.4 million in six days.
Others like “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” debuted with 14.1 million, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” with 10.9 million, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” with 9.7 million, “Eternals” managed 9.2 million. even “The Marvels” managed 5.3 million.
One factor – Disney+ didn’t do much to promote “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” debut on the platform, with nothing posted to promote the release.
