“The Peanut Butter Falcon” helmers Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz will team with celebrated producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “The LEGO Movie”) on a new and currently untitled project.
Nilson and Schwartz are in talks to write, direct and produce the film described as a Cuban story that will be shot largely in Spanish and set amidst the ever-rising AIDS epidemic in the early 1990s.
Boasting a “very naturalistic vibe in the vein of American Honey,” the tale is said to follow two brothers in the Cuban punk movement who enter a sanatorium to escape poverty.
Lord and Miller will produce alongside Aditya Sood. Nilson and Schwartz are also developing a limited series at Apple alongside Margot Robbie, and an episodic drama for Showtime with David Duchovny.
