One full year out from release, Universal Pictures has announced that IMAX screenings of the upcoming “F9: The Fast Saga” from June 25th will boast an extended preview of “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
The five-minute presentation will be the first clip from the movie to be released and comes long before the movie’s opening on June 10th 2022.
The sequence reportedly starts out with a scene set over 65 million years ago, serving as an origin story of sorts for the franchise with various creatures all being shown with as realistic a look as possible based on current scientific knowledge (so T-Rex has some ‘proto feather’ body hair this time).
Trevorrow tells Slashfilm: “We took on the challenge of realizing it in a way that feels tactile and alive and present, and not just like a bunch of computers rendering as quickly as they can. It was a real challenge and ILM was up to it, and our animators and everybody took it on and was excited about it as I was.”
The prehistoric sequence gives way to a modern scene with the T-Rex we know from the previous films on the run from authorities and crashing through a movie drive-in showing “American Graffiti” and “Flash Gordon” (so she has taste).
Trevorrow says the creature has her own arc in the film: “This is really setting up her arc in the third film. The T-Rex has been through a lot…I want her to live in peace. That’s all I want for her. So hopefully, the audience will want the same thing.”
