The recently released Chris Hemsworth-led film “Extraction” has delivered Netflix its biggest numbers to date for an original film launch according to the service itself.
Despite only launching just over a week ago, the film is reportedly on track to be watched by an estimated 90 million households over its first four weeks. That would overtake Michael Bay’s “6 Underground” (83 million), the Sandra Bullock-led “Bird Box” (80 million), the first season of “The Witcher” (76 million) and the Sandler & Aniston rom-com “Murder Mystery” (73 million).
Helmed by stuntman Sam Hargrave and produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film stars Hemsworth as mercenary Tyler Rake who is hired to rescue a young boy trapped by kidnappers inside one of the world’s most impenetrable cities and wanted in a war between notorious drug lords. Reviews overall for the film were quite good,
The 36-year-old Aussie actor has posted a video message from his home thanking everyone for their support of the film and discussed potential of a follow-up: “There has been a lot of talk about sequels and prequels and all sorts of things and all I can say is who knows, but with this kind of support it is something I will be pretty stoked to jump back into.”
