“Extraction 2” Set Hemsworth On Fire

Netflix

In an effort to one-up the original, the upcoming “Extraction” sequel sports a sequence that the script dubs “the craziest oner in cinema history.”

As glimpsed in the teaser trailer released the other month, the sequence sees Chris Hemsworth’s Australian black ops mercenary Tyler Rake caught up in a prison break somewhere that’s outdoors and very cold.

The film’s plot sees him trying to rescue the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from said prison where they are being held. Key to that will be this sequence which is reportedly being presented as a single unbroken shot.

Speaking with Empire, the film’s director Sam Hargrave says:

“For me, the image of Chris Hemsworth beating the s— out of a bunch of prisoners, while on fire, in the snow was something that I couldn’t pass up.

And hats off to Chris. It wasn’t CG fire. And he had to do it over and over. I don’t know a lot of people, let alone Hollywood A-listers, who are gonna let you light them on fire while on camera.

We had a bunch of different jackets all prepped for him, with different layers. We lit Chris Hemsworth on fire, and he beat up a bunch of guys all night. It was pretty incredible to watch.”

Golshifteh Farahani also reprises her role from the first film, whilst Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili co-star. Once again, Joe Russo penned the script and produces with brother Anthony Russo.

“Extraction 2” will premiere on Netflix on June 16th.
