New Clip: “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”

Illumination

Following its airing during this year’s Game Awards, Universal Pictures and Illumination have released a 90-second clip from the upcoming “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”.

The clip sees Toad leading Mario through the Mushroom Kingdom and up to the gates of Princess Peach’s palace. As expected, there are visual easter eggs galore, a score that pays homage to the original games, and some snazzy graphics.

This adaptation of the popular Nintendo games follows two Brooklyn plumbers who are brothers and best friends: Mario, the brave one with the ‘let’s-a-go’ attitude, and the perpetually anxious Luigi, who would prefer to go nowhere.

The pair are forced to leave behind their struggling plumbing business and wind up in a whirlwind adventure through the Mushroom Kingdom as they try to unite the land in an effort to defeat Bowser.

Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key and Jack Black lend their voices to the film, which opens in late March in various countries around the world, followed by an April 7th debut in the United States.
