Expect More Nintendo Movies Regularly

Nintendo, Universal Pictures

Nintendo has announced it has plans to release more films, all based on their classic video game titles, at a fairly consistent rate in the near future.

To date the company has only released one this century – 2023’s animated “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” which was a massive hit with fans and at the box-office.

They are quickly following that up with “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” arriving April next year and then the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie in 2027.

In a presentation to investors today, Nintendo confirms it is “building a framework for a consistent release cadence” of movies from now on.

A slide showed the three films discussed above and added that “we are continuing to prepare for the ongoing release of movies in the future” with several more planned.

They gave no hints at what the actual titles might be, but speculation is already swirling from Donkey Kong to Kirby, Metroid and Star Fox.
