Exhibitors: 90% Of Global Cinemas Open By July

The National Association of Theatrical Owners (NATO) has claimed that they expect that around 90% of the world’s cinemas will be re-opened in time for the July 17th release of Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet” reports Business Insider.

If that stat is accurate, that would be enough for Warner Bros. Pictures to give the go ahead to release the film theatrically – the first major studio feature to do so since March. A report the other month claimed Warners needs at least 80% of cinemas opened by July to support the release.

Just how NATO is deriving the new statistic isn’t clear, especially as plans for how long it’ll take for cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco to open its theaters are not yet set. in addition, they have an obvious vested interest in getting people back out into cinemas again.

“Tenet” cost over $200 million to produce with Warners likely wanting it to cross the $1 billion global box office mark to be considered a major success.
