The Los Angeles Film Critics Association has named both “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Tár” as the joint Best Picture winner for 2022.
Best lead performances went to Bill Nighly for “Living” and Cate Blanchett for “Tár” with runners up in those categories being Danielle Deadwyler for “Till” and Michelle Yeoh for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”.
Supporting performance wins went to Dolly De Leon for “Triangle of Sadness” and Ke Huy Quan for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” with runners-up being Jessie Buckley in “Women Talking” and Brian Tyree Henry in “Causeway”.
Todd Field won best director and best screenplay for “Tár” with the runners-up in those categories being for S.S. Rajamouli for “RRR” and Martin McDonagh for “The Banshees of Inisherin” respectively.
“EO” won best foreign language film, with “Saint Omer” the runner-up. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” won best-animated film with “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On” being the runner-up. “All The Beauty And The Bloodshed” won best documentary with “Fire of Love” as the runner-up.
Best editing went to “Aftersun” (runner-up: “Tár”), best cinematography to “EO” (runner-up: “Nope”), best score to “RRR” (runner-up: “EO”), best production design to “Avatar: The Way of Water” (runner-up: “Everything Everywhere All at Once”).
Finally, “Return to Seoul” took the New Generation award, whilst famed “Beau Travail,” “White Material,” “35 Shots of Rum,” “High Life” and “Both Sides of the Blade” director Claire Denis won this year’s career achievement award.
For the first time in three years, the organization is holding an in-person awards event on January 14th to honor the winners.
